ABOUT JOAN
"I have a very full life and one of my most treasured parts has been the ability to work with the wonderful people and families who have been part of my practice."
Well, I'm a life-long Orange County resident who has been a practicing licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Orange County for twenty-seven years (and still loving it!).
I've had the pleasure of working with individuals, families and children since 1984, so there are very few life-challenges I'm not familiar with or haven't worked with. I've been in private practice in the same location for the duration of my practice and I often joke that someone will have to "hit me over the head" in order to get me to retire. I truly love what I do.
I've been married to my husband for thirty-three years and we have both a son and a daughter. Our son Michael is a graduate from UCLA and some of the best times of our lives were watching him play centre for the Bruin Football Team. He is now busy starting a new company involving student athletes, serving young people both on the field as well as in the classroom.
Our daughter Katie is the "globe trotter" in the McCloskey Family having graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. After graduation her application for the Fulbright Scholarship was accepted and she spent one year in Bulgaria completing her study grant. During that time she fell in love with the country and its people. She returned to Canada, became engaged and is now applying to law schools in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Although my parenting years are behind me, I still remember those precious years as well as the parenting skills it taught. I'd love to go back and enjoy those times again but since that is not an option, we "make do" with our Welsh Corgi, Rex. It's not quite the same, but it allows us to love another "son" --the one with the four feet!
I have a very full life and one of my most treasured parts has been the ability to work with the wonderful people and families who have been part of my practice. I plan to continue for years to come and look forward to meeting those I have yet to meet. It has been an honor to truly have the opportunity "to touch people's lives."
